My name is James Egan.
I live in Salt Lake City, Utah, and I've been writing songs since I was a teenager. I sing and play piano, but whatever musical talent I have is really in songwriting.
I write songs for various reasons, but an abiding aim in all of my music-making is to add to the world of music that has done so much for my life. Many of my life's greatest joys and deepest reflections have involved music. I learned to love creativity and spontaneity from artists like Ben Folds and Adam Duritz, and my earliest reflections on life's profound wonders and dilemmas came while listening to songwriters like Elliott Smith and Jeff Tweedy.
I hope to make music that does a little bit of the same for others.
And I'm lucky to be able to try.
